PHOENICIA, Arados. Circa 246/5-168/7 BC. AR Tetradrachm (29.5mm, 16.95 g, 12h). Dated CY 44 (216/5 BC). Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; palm tree in left field, AP monogram below throne, 44 (date [partially visible], in Phoenician) and [ŠT (in Aramaic)] in exergue. Duyrat 1236–7 (D23/R72) = SNG Ashmolean 3003–4 (same dies); Price 3384; DCA 771. Light iridescent toning around the devices, light marks, scrape and a little off center on reverse. Good VF.
