THRACE, Hadrianopolis. Severan era. AD 193-235. Æ (16mm, 2.12 g, 6h). Bearded bust of Asclepius right, draped shoulder / Telesphorus standing facing, wearing hooded mantle. Jurukova, Hadrianopolis 704 (V296/R663, obv. described as Serapis); RPC IV.1 10850 (obv. described as Zeus); Varbanov –. Dark red-brown patina, minor deposits, slightly off center obverse. Good VF. Very rare, only one known to RPC, this is the second known.

The obverse of this rare coin has been described as Serapis (Jurukova) and Zeus (RPC), but the combination of Asclepius and his son, Telesphorus, makes more sense.
