DEVTSCHLANDS KARFREITAG (Germany's Good Friday), personification of Germany, looking to heaven, hands bound behind back, and feet shackled with balls and chains, standing facing on rocks; to left, figure offers her sponge soaked in vinegar, second holds placard inscribed SCHULD (Fault); to right, figure attempts to rip off her remaining clothes; in background, workers marching right, following banner inscribed GENERAL/STREIK; 1919 in exergue / the "Big Four" around globe; to left Lloyd George and Clemenceau casting lots; to right, Wilson, holding compass and seated in chair, and Orlando standing behind with hair on chair back, both looking up at hand emerging from clouds writing BOLSCEWI in flames; K · G to right of chair.
