INDVLGE-NTIA AVGG / IN CARTH Dea Caelestis facing, her head turned to right, holding thunderbolt in right hand and scepter in left, riding right on lion; below, water gushing left from rocks. BMC 280. Cohen 97. RIC 130a. Well centered and boldly struck. Flan flaw, otherwise, extremely fine.


The Carthaginian cult of Dea Caelestis/Tanit was introduced in Rome by Septimius Severus and Julia Domna.
