Seal or Bulla (Lead, 33 mm, 33.43 g, 12 h), an Imperial seal used for official documents, Constantinople, circa 1062-1065. +ΕΜΜΑ - ΝΟΥΗΛ Bust of Christ facing, with cross-nimbus containing five pellets in each arm, wearing tunic and himation, right hand in folds and left holding book; to left and right IC XC; the whole within round dotted border. Rev. +ΚΩΝ ΒΑCΙΛΕYC - ΡΩMAIΩΝ Ο ΔΟΥΚ' Emperor standing facing, wearing crown with cross and pendilia and loros, holding labarum and with part of his cloak over his left arm. DO 77.1. Seibt Bleisiegel, 21a. Vatican -. Zacos & Veglery 87a (same boulloterion). With a very elegant portrait of Jesus Christ. A superior example. Bang or flan fault on reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
