EGYPT, Alexandria. Trajan. AD 98-117. Æ Drachm (37mm, 19.17 g, 12h). Dated RY 12 (AD 108/9). Laureate and draped bust right / Euthenia seated left on base, wearing uraeus on her head, holding grain ears and scepter, resting her left arm on androsphinx right; around, sixteen infant genii (cubits of Nilus). Köln –; Dattari (Savio) 7041 (same dies); BMC 485 corr. (year 12 not 2 as listed); K&G –; Emmett 491 (R5). Good Fine, bluish-green surfaces, light roughness. Very rare.

A very rare type for the Alexandrian series with Euthenia seated and resting on an androsphinx. The sixteen infant genii represent 16 cubits, which was the optimum height of the Nile during inundation season.
