Royal Bank of Scotland, £1, 3 March 1997, serial number AGB0000018, Lord Ilay First Governor of the Royal Bank of Scotland at right, reverse, Alexander Graham Bell. This note celebrated the 150th anniversary of the birth in Edinburgh of Alexander Graham Bell, pioneer of the telephone. It was the first banknote in the EU to carry a hologram, (PMS RB95), uncirculated.
