Vespasian (69 -79). AE 'irregular' Dupondius, 74 AD. Obv. IMP CAESAR VESPASIAN AVG. Laureate head left. Rev. PON MAX TR POT P P COS V CENS. Winged caduceus between two crossed cornuacopiae. RIC II-p. 1 (2nd ed.) 756. AE. 12.04 g. 27.00 mm. VF/Good VF. This Dupondius belongs to the group of irregular brass issue minted in Rome, c. 74 AD. The largest denomination (brass, c. 12.5-13 gr.) matches a Roman dupondius, but it has an unusual reverse type for denomination and the standard radiate obverse bust type is replaced by a laureate bust.
