PROCOPIUS, A.D 365-366. AV Solidus (3.99 gms), Constantinople Mint. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 2/5. Clipped, Wrinkled, Graffito.
RIC-2A; Dep-14/4. Obverse: Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right; Reverse: Procopius standing left, head right, holding spear and resting hand upon shield; CONS. Despite exhibiting a number of issues, such as clipping, graffiti in the fields, and a flan that is somewhat wrinkled, it nevertheless presents a tremendous opportunity for a rather brief emperor whose coinage in gold is VERY RARE and does not present itself all that often, especially at a more obtainable price point. As such, this charming exemplar should still generate solid enthusiasm for the advanced collector of the Roman series in gold.
