GUATEMALA. Centennial of the Birth of Simon Bolivar Silver Medal, 1883. NGC Unc Details--Obverse Spot Removed.
By Frener. Diameter: 37mm. Obverse: Laureate head right; Reverse: Oval coats-of-arms of Venezuela and Guatemala within wreaths; all within larger wreath, with garland reading PAX at the bottom. An EXTREMELY RARE medallic issue honoring "The Liberator," Simon Bolivar, this glistening specimen offers a high degree of dazzling luster and some enchanting frosting upon the devices, ultimately yielding a pleasing prooflike nature. The noted spot removal on the obverse, between the name and the rim behind Bolivar's head, is rather minimal and, on account of the GREAT RARITY of the medal, is quite easily overlooked.
