CUBA. Cuba - Mexico. Peso, ND (1872-77). PCGS EF-40.
KM-R7. Countermark: Variety B, Long and thin key. Applied to the reverse of a 1871-Go S Mexico Republic "Balance Scale" Peso (KM-408.4). This nicely preserved example boasts rich attractive mottled gray patina with a slight iridescent sheen that complements this handsome piece. The countermark is complete, though slightly uneven, on a wholesome looking and well detailed host. Examples from this series can usually be found in grades up to very fine, but should be considered RARE in extremely fine or better. Nicer and more attractive than normally encountered, this wholly original looking piece with much remaining detail and offers a pleasing appearance.
