DOMINICA. 3 Bitts (3 Shilling 3 Pence), ND (1813). George III. NGC G-6.
KM-4; Prid-29. Weight: 4.00 gms. Issued by local ordinance of 7 August 1813. Countermark: Crowned 3 within shaped indent. Applied to a 1/2 cut central plug, with rough crenations, presumably removed from a Spanish colonial bust 8 Reales. The countermark is bold and clear on a nearly slick host displaying lovely old cabinet patina with minor earthen deposits in the protected areas of the stamp. This pleasing example offers much originality and good eye appeal that is certain to complement many collections of cut and countermarked issues.
