GREAT BRITAIN. East Asia - Great Britain - Mexico. Dollar (4 Shillings 9 Pence), ND (1797). George III. PCGS Genuine--Chopmark, VF Details, Countermark: EF Details.
S-3765A; KM-634. Authorized 9 March 1797. Countermark: Bank of England Type I; Raised bust of George III within oval indent. Applied to the obverse of a 1792-Mo FM Mexico bust 8 Reales of Charles IIII (IV) (KM-109). Another interesting and well traveled multi-national issue featuring a British oval countermark coupled with several small and large chopmarks that were obtained while circulating in the far east. The countermark is deeply impressed on a decently preserved host displaying rich mottled gray patina with minor earthen deposits amongst the devices. This handsome and wholesome looking example offers much originality and is a testament to the utilitarian nature of Spanish specie.

Estimate: $800 - $1200
