S-3767A; KM-Unlisted. Authorized 2 January 1804. Countermark: Bank of England Type II; Raised bust of George III right utilized from the then current 6 Pence. Applied to the obverse of a 1793-M MF Spain bust 4 Reales of Charles IIII (IV) (KM-431.1). The countermark is deeply applied with bold details and crisp well defined shaped border. A fully original looking moderately worn example of this highly sought after denomination for the countermark variety that seldom appears on the market and should be considered VERY RARE. Lovely rich mottled cabinet patina with areas of lighter coloration atop of the devices accentuated by an iridescent sheen that pops out when tilted in the light.
