KM-107; Jovel-Type III Fig. 4.6. Issued by decree of 26 April 1839 through 20 November 1840. Countermark: Type II, radiant personification of the sun above mountains. Applied to the reverse of a 1733-Mo MF Mexico Klippe 8 Reales of Philip V (KM-48). The finest certified of the on either the NGC or PCGS population reports for this host coin. An EXTREMELY RARE type in this problem free high state of preservation with few other examples from this series that match or exceed its overall quality. The countermark, nicely centered in the middle of the cross, is somewhat weak in parts on a beautifully preserved host displaying lovely rich slate patina with areas of lighter coloration amongst the devices. Vastly superior than normally encountered and very attractive, this fine example is worthy of serious consideration from the quality conscious collectors.
