JAMAICA. Jamaica - Mexico. 6 Shillings 8 Pence (8 Reales - Dollar), ND (1758). George II. PCGS EF-45, Countermark: EF Details.
KM-8.3; Prid-4. Issued by local act of 18 November 1758. Countermark: Bifacial ornate G.R. within incuse circle. Applied to the obverse and reverse of a 1757/6-Mo MM Mexico "Pillar" 8 Reales of Ferdinand VI (KM-104.2). Quite deeply toned and supremely enticing, this example offers a great dual nature, in that the host retains solid detail and a pleasing color, and that the countermarks are boldly and rather well applied to each side.
From the David Sterling Collection.
Estimate: $1500 - $2500
