JAMAICA. Jamaica - Mexico. 3 Shillings 4 Pence (4 Reales - 1/2 Dollar), ND (1758). George II. PCGS FINE-12, VF Details.
KM-7 (plate coin); Prid-5 (plate coin). Issued by local act of 18 November 1758. Countermark: Bifacial ornate G.R. within incuse circle. Applied to the obverse and reverse of a 1758-Mo MM Mexico "Pillar" 4 Reales of Ferdinand VI (KM-95). The highly attractive example displays lovely old cabinet patina with an iridescent sheen that pops out when tilted in the light. The surfaces are relatively smooth with signs of handling one would expect from the assigned grade, but nothing of particular note, with honest wear. This denomination is the RAREST from the series and is always sought after by collectors, with this piece offering a pleasing appearance and an excellent provenance it should garner much attention.
