PHILIPPINES. Philippines - Mexico. 8 Reales, ND (1834-37). Manila Mint. Isabel II. PCGS VF-35, Countermark: EF Details.
KM-127; Basso-56; PNM#6-118; PNM#16-254; PNM#21-VIII-73; Cacho-IX-CS-071; Gil-5-4-1-II. Issued by decree of 20 December 1834 and suppressed 31 March 1837 (by decree of 1 February 1836). Countermark: Type VI; crowned Y.II. within circular incuse. Applied to the obverse of a 1823-Mo JM Mexico 8 Reales of the Empire of Iturbide, fourth bust type. This in demand and ever-popular two-year host is always a collector favorite with relatively few surviving examples when compared to other Mexican issues, and for this date we have more than 15 different recorded examples. The countermark is sharp and bold with clear definition of the fine details on a moderately worn host. The surfaces exhibit signs of handling consistent for the grade with minor marks or abrasions, but nothing overly distracting. The countermark is bold and clear with good definition of the fine details on a decently preserved host, though slightly unevenly struck, displaying light mottled gray patina with richer coloration amongst the devices. This wholesome survivor offers a pleasing appearance with much originality and is sure to catch the attention of many collectors.

Estimate: $5000 - $8000
