KM-Unlisted; Basso-56; PNM#6-136; PNM#16-304; PNM#21-119; Cacho-Unlisted; Gil-5-2-2. Issued by decree of 20 December 1834, suppressed 31 March 1837, by decree of 1 February 1836. Countermark: Type VI, crowned Y.II. within circle. Applied to the obverse of a 1832/1-Do RM/L Mexico Republic 8 Reales (KM-377.4), overdate variety. The countermark is somewhat shallow on a nicely preserved host displaying light attractive mottled tone. Close inspection reveals evidence of a past cleaning, now subdued by the attractive patina. Despite its shortcomings a handsome and wholesome high grade example that is sure to make a nice addition to the next collection it enters.
Estimate: $1000 - $1500
