AUSTRIA. Salzburg. Archbishopric Election Gold Medal of 12 Ducats Weight, 1772. Vienna Mint. Hieronymus Graf Colloredo von Wallsee und Melz. NGC MS-62.
Fr-Unlisted; KM-Unlisted; Zottl-3120; Kunker 268, lot 5721 = NAC 28, lot 905. By J. M. Krafft. Weight: 41.59 gms. Obverse: Mantled bust right, wearing zuchetto; Reverse: Female personification of Salzburg seated right, holding serpent-entwined mirror and extending hand; at side, oval shield bearing janiform male head, with cornucopia lying behind; city view at a distance in background. An impressive large format medallic issue struck to the weight of 12 Ducats and almost exclusively encountered in silver rather than gold, this nearly-Choice exemplar is EXCEEDINGLY RARE and clearly superior to the one other representative of the scant emission to sell over the past few decades. As such, a tremendous opportunity for the advanced collector of Austrian medallic issues or the numismatic series of Salzburg more specifically.

Estimate: $30000 - $50000
