GREAT BRITAIN. Laurel, ND (1619-20). London Mint; mm: spur rowel. James I. NGC Unc Details--Obverse Tooled.
S-2638; Fr-242; N-2111. Third coinage, second bust. Weight: 9.01 gms. Obverse: Laureate, draped, and armored bust left; XX (mark of value) to right; Reverse: Square-topped coat-of-arms over long cross fourchee; crown above. A supremely attractive example, this wonderful Laurel delivers a full strike and essentially complete luster, a RARITY on English hammered gold. Though NGC notes obverse tooling, this is of the faintest variety, with perhaps one streak behind the bust accounting for the grade assigned. Impressive to hold in one's hand, we expect fervent competition for this beautiful piece.
Estimate: $2000 - $4000
