Obverse: St. George's shield within wreath composed of laurel branch and palm frond; Reverse: Two shield bearing St. George's cross (England) and harp (Ireland); XII (mark of value) above. This stunning survivor represents a VERY RARE proof issue of the normally more crude type, with all of the elegant refinement that one would expect for a well made product. Some circulation is evident, though this minor has avoided any of the distracting marks that could have been encountered during its time in commerce. Deep toning in the fields accentuates the devices, making this a must for the advanced collector of the period's coinage.
