GREAT BRITAIN. Gold Broad Pattern (20 Shillings), 1662. London Mint. Charles II. PCGS AU-55.
S-3337A; Fr-Unlisted; N-2780; KM-Pn32. Surpassed in the PCGS census by just four examples, this enticingly wholesome representative was the last coin to be denominated as such and followed by the Guinea coinage of 21 Shillings, though the unit would make somewhat of a comeback with the later Sovereign of 20 Shillings. Often referred to as a pattern, this type was produced only the quantity of a few thousand, accounting to failures of machinery and constant die cracking. As such, one offering the state of preservation and originality as is the case here is quite RARE and exceedingly desirable, with ample luster remaining and only light handling upon the high points.

Estimate: $10000 - $20000
