GREAT BRITAIN. Silver 1/2 Crown Pattern, 1799. Prince George (future George IV). NGC PROOF-67.
Forrer-II, p. 170; Stainton-31b. By J. Milton for Col. Fullerton. A rather interesting and RARE pattern issue, this deeply toned Gem radiates with immense, majestic underlying luster and brilliance.

Though Prince George would not ascend to the throne for another two decades, his role as regent would increase with the diminishing health of his father, George III. The Latin abbreviations on the obverse have been described as "Princeps Senescaltus Scotiae Cornubia Dux," though the lack of any reference to his status as Prince of Wales (Princeps Walliae/Cambriae) would be a bit unusual.

Ex: Eric P. Newman Collection.

Estimate: $1000 - $2000
