KM-473.2; S&W-5.6. An amazing Proof specimen that sits at the pinnacle of the NGC census, this phenomenal Gem couples desirability with elusivity. One of the SCARCER dated proof restrikes, the present example appears to be either an early restrike or perhaps even an original, with only the slightest evidence of die pitting being transferred to the surfaces. While the vast majority of these proof Rupees display aggressive hairlines or fogginess, this one escapes that fate, bearing no trace of these defects. Exceptional toning waxes and wanes in intensity across the surfaces, with an amber to plum spectrum seen. A piece that most assuredly should not be missed by any specialist in the British Indian series.
