Fr-2642; KMX-5. Restrike issue. The popular Sophia type, this intensely brilliant and sharply struck example honors the Electress Sophia, who, on account of being the granddaughter of King James I of England (VI of Scotland), was in line to succeed the childless Queen Anne upon the latter's death. However, Sophia predeceased her first cousin, once removed, by two months, meaning her son George would succeed Anne instead, initiating the House of Hanover within the British line of succession.
