GERMANY. Medallic Issues. Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Death of Karl August Gold Medal, 1894. Stuttgart (W. Mayer) Mint. NGC MS-62 Prooflike.
Diameter: 42mm; Weight: 32.97 gms. Obverse: Draped bust facing slightly left in military attire; Reverse: Legend in five lines within palm frond curling to right and garlanded with banner bearing his birth and death dates. Already a seldom seen issue in silver, this type is virtually unheard of and EXCESSIVLEY RARE in gold, with a weight of just over one ounce. Charmingly frosted upon the devices and quite mirrored in the fields, this stunning specimen should undoubtedly be on the list of those who seek medallic treasures from the final decades of the German Empire.

Estimate: $5000 - $7500
