ITALY. Calabria. Tarentum. AR Didrachm (Nomos) (6.52 gms), ca. 280-272 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 3/5 Surface: 4/5.
HGC-1, 887; HN Italy-1013. Obverse: Warrior, holding shield and two spears, on horse rearing left; Z[Ω] to right, AΠOΛΛΩ below; Reverse: Phalanthos, holding grape bunch and distaff, riding dolphin left; ANΘ to right. A lightly handled piece with light toning and bright luster. The obverse is struck with slightly worn dies, but the reverse is impressively sharp.
