Obverse: Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with laurel wreath; Reverse: Bull charging right, head lowered, on plain ground line; ΘOYPIΩN above; in exergue, fish right. This striking Stater presents a bold and expressive portrait of Athena. The bull on the reverse is impressively lifelike and dynamic. Attractive mottled gray toning adds depth to the crisp details. A stunning and well-produced piece with a curiously irregular flan.
