MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander III (the Great), 336-323 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (17.07 gms), Amphipolis Mint, ca. 322-320 B.C. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5. Light Graffito.
Pr-115; Muller-146. Early posthumous issue, struck under Antipater. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress; Reverse: Zeus Aëtophoros seated to left, holding scepter; tripod in left field. A well-produced Tetradrachm with a striking portrait of Herakles. The surfaces display stark gunmetal toning that gives the coin particular eye appeal. Some small graffiti on the reverse field is noted.
