AKARNANIA. Anaktorion. AR Stater (8.51 gms), ca. 350-300 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5.
HGC-4, 758; Pegasi-30/2 corr. (A on obv.); BCD Akarnania-90. Obverse: Pegasos flying right, A below; Reverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; to left, tripod within wreath and monogram. A well-produced and beautifully preserved Stater. While both sides offer plenty of crisp detail, the obverse is especially stunning, with perfect centering and a strong strike of attractive style. The surfaces display elegant cabinet toning, complemented by subtle underlying luster. A highly enticing example.
