AKARNANIA. Thyrrheion. AR Stater (8.22 gms), ca. 320-280 B.C. NGC Ch F, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5.
HGC-4, 919; Pegasi-10. Obverse: Pegasos flying left; Θ below; Reverse: Helmeted head of Athena left; earring with pendants behind. A charming example of this SCARCE type. The surfaces display deep cabinet toning with wonderful flashes of iridescent color in the luster that surrounds the devices. The coin shows even wear from circulation, but retains plenty of appealing detail.
