HGC-4, 1326; SNG Cop-284. Obverse: Boeotian shield; Reverse: Bearded head of Dionysos right, wearing ivy wreath; all within incuse square. Struck on a very broad oblong flan, this stunning Theban Stater displays a bold shield and a sharp portrait. Traces of luster are visible beneath the mottled gray toning.
