HGC-4, 1602; Thompson-449E. New Style coinage. Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; Reverse: Owl, with head facing, standing right on overturned amphora; to left, eagle standing right; Δ on amphora, ME below; all within wreath. A bold Tetradrachm with deep gunmetal toning and splashes of iridescent color on the reverse fields. The coin is holed at about 4 o'clock on the obverse, but the coin remains eminently attractive and delightfully detailed.
