CORINTHIA. Corinth. AR Stater (8.55 gms), ca. 345-307 B.C. NGC Ch EF★, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 5/5.
HGC-4, 1848; Pegasi-427. Obverse: Pegasos flying left; Reverse: Helmeted head of Athena left, with laurel wreath on the helmet; aegis to right. One of the most overall satisfying examples of this type. The devices, well-struck and scarcely handled, are perfectly centered on both sides. The surfaces are elegantly toned to a deep steel-blue with plenty of luster in the fields that flashes brilliantly. Exemplary of the finest production quality at Corinth, this Stater is certain to please the collector who acquires it.
From the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection.
Estimate: $700 - $1000
