VENEZUELA. Uncut Sheet of (3). Estados-Unidos de Venezuela. 1 Peso, 1811. P-4Ac. Rosenman 13. PMG Very Fine 30.
No. F82 91811/2/3. Block T.92. Printed signatures of Yarza, Sata, and Salicrup. Dated August 27, 1811. An incredibly rare offering of three uncut 1 Peso notes with the later, and often more difficult to obtain, signature combination. Finding single notes from the first paper money issued by Venezuela is hard, but finding an uncut sheet is rare. After the fall of the First Republic on July 25, 1812, the paper money issued by the Estados Unidos de Venezuela was to be withdrawn without any compensation to their holders. The money was then taken by Commander Juan Budia, under orders of General Monteverde, and was to be abandoned enroute to Caracas. Instead, Budia decided to burn the money in the town of Victoria. This act resulted in the meager amount of currency available to collectors today from the First Republic, with surviving sheets being unheard of. We are confident this type is missing from even the most advanced Venezuelan paper collections, and it is sure to be hotly contested once the bidding begins. PMG comments "Stains, Small Holes".
