PERU. Banco del Peru. 1000 Pesos, 18xx. P-S355p. Front Proof. About Uncirculated.
An incredibly rare denomination & catalog number from this issuer, offered here to collectors today as a front proof. The note has been mounted to cardstock, with the lower border design having been removed (although the embossing is still clearly found on the cardstock). Dark green ink comprises the underprinted design at center and signature panel, along with the design encasing the counters at top left & right corners. Vignette at bottom right of a face surrounded by a sun-like design. Allegorical female at the lower left end, whilst at top center a Native is seated next to a sailor (the background is of a tint behind the Native and ships behind the sailor). Neat motifs from around the middle of the 1800's. Minor staining, most likely from glue. Rounded corners. Hole through the paper at lower left, in the border design.
