Huari Deity Jar. A fine Huari polychrome jar from Peru, c. 650 – 800 AD. This fine beaker with flared rim is 4" high and features two depictions of a deity wearing a complex headdress studded with a pair of condor heads and central feather element. The two primary panels are separated by panels of chevron designs which are characteristic of the Highlands style. Five small drill holes are evidence of the ancient repair of a crack, which has now been expertly restored. The restorer did not hide the drill holes, as they are rare, show ancient usage and communicate the importance of this vessel to its ancient owner. Ex Caravallo collection. Value range $375 - $500.
