Saxony-Ernestine. Johann Friedrich, Heinrich & Johann Ernst Taler 1540 MS63+ NGC, KM243, Dav-9727. An interesting type depicting both Johann Friedrich and his half-brother Johann Ernst, joint successors to the elector of Saxony, struck only two years before the position was consolidated to the former. In a state of preservation practically unheard of for the type, this piece boasts well-defined devices accentuated by slate crevices on the reverse, and elevated in eye-appeal by amber, violet, and fern green toning in the fields. Unsurprisingly the finest graded across certification companies to date.
