German States
Württemberg. Karl I Taler 1866 MS67 PCGS, Stuttgart mint, KM615, Dav-960, Thun-440. Despite the highest mintage for this six-year type, the piece at hand stands nearly atop the rest. Both a conditional and aesthetic outlier for the type, fully dressed in a polychromatic cabinet tone gently obscured by a pervasive haze. Upon illumination, the coin is engulfed in mint flash, highlighting a paucity of visual imperfection. Though bested by a single NGC occupant by a half-point, the piece's allure is undeniable.
