This is a rare issue, and the present example certainly ranks near the top of around ten other examples on the open market in the past decade. As this was such a short-produced issue, there were only so many dies used, meaning the small die break seen on the obverse on the tail of the eagle is fairly standard. Likewise, the slight waviness seen on the reverse of the flan is typical of this series. Cf. Triton VI (14 January 2003), lot 94 and Hess-Divo 309 (28 April 2008), lot 14 for two other examples that have the same fabric and are struck from the same dies.
