Edward IV (1471-1483) gold 1/2 Angel ND (1473-1477) MS65 NGC, Tower mint, Castle mm, Fr-140, S-2093. 2.54gm. (Cross Pattée on Annulet) EDWARD x DEI GRΛ' RЄX x ΛNGLE x, crowned, nimbate figure of the Archangel Michael with both feet on the dragon (Satan), spearing with cross-tipped staff (saltire stops) / (Cross Pattée on Annulet) O: CRVX: ΛVЄ: SPЄS: VnICΛ: (double-saltire stops), cross-topped Tudor shield over ship, Є-(rose) above. First time we offer this scarce Edward IV issue; and what a debut. Not only the sole finest but the single Mint State representative recorded by NGC and PCGS combined. This 1/2 Angel example isn't only a perfect representative of the Edwardian issues but also from the denomination itself, displaying evenly-struck peripheries with chiseled and sharp motifs. A subtle patina graces the pristine surfaces of this Gem, making this piece a candidate for the most discerning coin cabinets.
