Great Britain
Henry VIII (1509-1547) gold Crown of the Double Rose ND (1526-1533) MS63 NGC, Arrow mintmark, S-2274, N-1788 var. (Scarce). 3.70gm. 2nd coinage of 1526-1544. A unique denomination limited to Henry VIII's reign, bearing the crowned initials "h" and "K" on both the obverse and reverse, denoting Henry and his first wife Katherine of Aragon who perished in 1535, not too long after this specimen was struck. This is NGC's finest, centrally struck and proudly displaying devices rendered with Choice precision, only instances of doubling and softness in the legends precluding a higher grade. Original luster clings to the fields and highpoints, a cherry on top of what is already a highly desirable offering.
