Great Britain
Charles I gold Unite ND (1625-1626) MS64 NGC, Tower mint (under Charles I), Cross Calvary mm, KM151.1, S-2687, N-2148. 9.02gm. (cross calvary) • CAROLVS D' • G' MAG' • BRI • FRA' • ET' • HI' • REX •, crowned, mantled bust of Charles left, XX (denomination) behind / FLORENT CONCORDIA REGNA (cross calvary), crowned Stuart arms. A wondrous tier of preservation is represented within the current offering, produced upon a luminous planchet nearly devoid of handling. While characteristically crude with allover striking weakness, the centering remains strong and the majority of the legends are deeply impressed. According to NGC's census data, the current offering represents the finest for this well-represented Spink number by more than two grade-points, and only a single point behind the lone MS65 of all of Charles's Unite coinage, making for a fine candidate for a world-class collection.
