Anne gold 5 Guineas 1705 MS61 NGC, KM520.2, S-3560. The first of two absolutely enchanting 5 Guinea specimens within these very pages, and the second struck during Anne's storied reign. Rarely do we find ourselves the opportunity to handle two decidedly Mint State representatives of this seldom-seen series in a single year, let alone the same sale, here bestowed a most pleasing lemon-gold flash across the skillfully crafted and fully struck-up devices. Practically Prooflike as a result of a laudably bold embossment, and likely precluded from such a designation due to an abundance of wisps characteristic of these expansive gold issues. While a scratch is noted to the obverse behind Anne's swept hair, this does little to hind the overall and advanced aesthetic caliber of this second-finest for the date representative.
