One of the many masterworks of famed engraver William Wyon, so much so that this design would become one of his most hotly contested for type collectors, and eventually recreated for the British Royal Mint's "Great Engravers" series. Finely articulated motifs adorn both faces, enlivened by a silty cabinet patina commonly found on even finer examples of this highly collectible type.
