C. Cassius Longinus, Imperator and Assassin of Caesar (44-42 BC). AR denarius (18mm, 3.63 gm, 6h). NGC MS 5/5 - 4/5. Military mint traveling with Brutus and Cassius, probably at Smyrna, early 42 BC. C•CASSI•-IMP, tripod surmounted by cortina and two branches, fillet hanging on either side / LENTVLVS / SPINT, oenochoe (on left) and lituus (on right), both turned inward. Crawford 500/1. Sydenham 1308. CRI 219. Sharply struck on brightly lustrous surfaces with nice flowlines on obverse.
