Costa Rica
Republic Counterstamped "Carrillo" 4 Reales ND (1841-1842) F2 NGC, San Jose mint, cf. KM16 (unlisted host). Host: Guatemala Charles IV 4 Reales 1800 NG-M; Counterstamp: control test-punch between ET and IND, Type I countermark of radiant 6-pointed star within 7mm circle. A usually heavily circulated type, where the plug hole (same size as the stamp) represents the fee paid for regulating such coin. From one of the scarcest denominations of this elusive stamp, the present offering manages to go beyond in rarity as it's struck on an unlisted host.
