ARAB-BYZANTINE: Justin & Sophia type, ca. 690s, AE follis (4.96g), year "18", A-3509.2, an unusual imitation, obverse with a standing caliph to the left and a Byzantine ruler to the right as on some folles of Gerasa // capital M, officina mark A, retrograde NIKO in the exergue; the mint name seems to be a somewhat garbled version of ΓEPEΣ for the mint of Gerasa (Jerash); and interesting piece, apparently unpublished, VF, RRR.
