SAFFARID: Khalaf b. Ahmad, 981-1003, AR dirham (4.50g), Bamm, AH381, A-1421, Khalaf cited only as wali al-dawla abu ahmad and the caliph al-Ta'i'; the mint name is recut over sijistan, and was likely struck along the Saffarid route to Sirjan, where dirhams were struck for Khalaf, lovely VF to EF. This is the first known Saffarid coin of Bamm, presumably struck during Khalaf's brief occupation of parts of Kirman province, where dirhams were also struck at the far-western Kirman city of Sirjan, known dated AH381 and 382. Bamm lay along the route from Sijistan to Sirjan.
